Merecido triunfo de Yugoslavia. Extrañamente el técnico campeón no es quien dirge al equipo en el Mundial de 1962.
According to the official match reports on fifa.com, several of the players in Yugoslavia changed their jerseys throughout the tournament. Is that really allowed - same player using different numbers? Probably they should have been disqualified and Denmark awarded the gold. But much water under the bridges since then, the country doesn´t even exist anymore.
Yeah but Yugosalvia got screwed over in 1992 when they got disqualified from Euros cos of the war but the players were already prepearing for the tournament and that would not affect them to play in the tournament and Yugolasvia were favourites for this tournament cos in 1991 Red Star Belgrade won the Uefa Cup and had great players'Icons' from Yugosalvia at that time but they got disqualified and Denmark who were second behind Yugo in qualifing group got the call and the hadnt even been prepearing for the tournamet and didnt have any friendly games before that and they end up winning the tourament so Yugo would probably won that. And the war isnt the main reason it was sanctions that prevented Yugo from wining that Euro and Red Star to continue their dominance in Europe cos they werent allowend to play at their stadium but in neutral ground which was a massive disadvantage for them.So unfortunnley Denmark got their revenge if we can say that at all...
They played on the Stadio Flaminio (Roma), not the Stadio Olimpico (Roma).
Right, thank you!
